after the bath

A male Anhinga is pretty fearless.

This one was even sporting a mohawk while he dried his feathers.

He didn't mind me getting close enough

to take these photos without a zoom

but then I guess he decided

enough was enough

and threatened me with a low croaking

and a twirl of his rapier beak.

I was impressed.
