the mystery of pain

Pain has an element of blank;

It cannot recollect
When it began, or if there were
A day when it was not.

It has no future but itself,
Its infinite realms contain
Its past, enlightened to perceive
New periods of pain.

— emily dickinson

it's been a weary couple of weeks.
and sometimes i don't understand the why of it all.
sometimes the pain is all there is in the world.
but sometimes a friend reaches out with a helping hand,
or a word of comfort, or a song in the night—
and the shadows recede for a time...

I am so sorry to hear of your suffering and your pain. I haven't seen that poem of Emily Dickinson's -- how perfect. And the song/video is lovely.

I pray that you are relieved of this.

As you know, I've had a rough couple of weeks also. I've not read that poem of Emily Dickenson's and would like to share it with my students. So many of them know pain on a daily basis in different ways and different degrees.
The song was beautiful and choked me up a bit. It's just what I needed tonight as I face a very hectic day tomorrow and because of illness didn't prepare like I should have. Please pray that my principal will not come down on me.

My dear friend, I wish the weeks were few and far between that get you down. I hope this coming week will be a good one. BIG hugs! xo

oh, Leslie.
It's not fair...
I know that sounds wrong to say that, but still.

I send prayers and wishes for relief, for peace, and continued gratitude for how you share grace and elegance.

What a great song! Thank God he is the beginning and end - he knows the beginning and ends of our suffering as well. I pray that in your pain you will know him beside you.
