giving thanks... for your friendship

"Friendship is being with the other in joy and sorrow,
even when we cannot increase the joy or decrease the sorrow.
It is a unity of souls that gives nobility and sincerity to love.
Friendship makes all of life shine brightly.
Blessed are those who lay down their lives for their friends."
— Henri Nouwen

So true. My friends make life so much better. I've come to count on my blogging friends as well. Hope you are doing ok today, no matter what there are those who care.

How true. This makes me think of my dearest friendship. Our lives have been bookended with the birth of children, the death of children, and the births of grandchildren. In between there have been weddings, baptisms, illnesses and healings. Nouwen could not have said it better.

Sometimes others lay down their life for you not necessarily with some great act of valor but by just putting their concerns into the background and simply being there for you.

We are doing this for our daughter at present who is suffering so with the pain of mental health problems.

The verification word for this comment aptly describes our emotional state 'cryings'!

Your post is so full of meaning for both you and us, thanks.

Nothing as important as being able to depend on friends...

I think of our soldiers, men and women who forge friendships deep and true through long wars. They at times do lay down their lives for a friend.

This is such a lovely quote Leslie. I have been thinking much about friendship in recent days - how very much it means.
Thank you so much for visiting. Yes, the little fawn was in our yard. There were actually a Mama and twins who came regularly to drink. We had a terrible drought last summer, and it was the only place they could get a drink.
