i led them with cords of human kindness...

there are times when the pain of life obliterates its color —

when quiet waters seem a thing of the past

and the heart cries

"forsaken."

and then love arrives by post.

in living color.

"red canoe," by canadian artist emily wierenga.
(my humble camera does not do justice to her art.)

This is the second time today I've seen emily's artwork on someone's blog (other than emily's). I think I need to get me some. Beautiful post, Leslie.

how wonderful...I'm so glad color arrived and from one so dear...may the pain abate each time you look upon the red canoe and in your heart and mind paddle toward healing in that moment held in the gently rocking waters she has painted especially for you.

When we need it, it will come. Sometimes hard to believe, and other times hard to believe otherwise.
I love you, too.

Oh, that's beautiful. I haven't bought a piece of art in years, but remember how much joy it brought me. Enjoy.

Emily is such a talented artist, isn't she? And I love when snail mail brings something glorious - like this is! It makes a day sing.

Love those little paintings, the colours are amazing. Might see if I can get hold of some of her work myself.
