back porch on a rainy morning.

there are these gifts,
unexpected, undeserved,
even —
waking to thunder in the distance,
rain dripping from the gutters,
a camera to hand
and eyes to see...

that second one
is magic,
pure awesomeness.
they all make my heart
feel homesick
for somewhere.
funny how that works.
i love this...thank you.

oh yeah,
that fresh feeling,
and you,
out there,
to account for it.

Yes, rainy days are rather delicious unless one has lots of errands!

I enjoy waking to distant thunder; our dog, not so much. Yes, rain can certainly be a gift - we finally got a measurable amount with more to come to end the drought.

Yes, we must remember these basic things, the very things that make existence possible...gifts from God...well, not the camera maybe, but the eyes to SEE!
