anne morrow lindbergh, on suffering...

“I do not believe that sheer suffering teaches. If suffering alone taught, all the world would be wise, since everyone suffers. To suffering must be added mourning, understanding, patience, love, openness, and the willingness to remain vulnerable.”

How beautiful and true. Suffering is part and parcel of our humanity but it doesn't make it any easier.

and thank you
for the tender
reminder

Just had a conversation with my pastor's wife about how the church needs to be reminded that lament is worship.

There is such beauty and wisdom to be found at the seashore.

I love these words you have chosen. And thank you for the 'nudge' - I've been in a bloggy drought.
Openness is good. God is good.
