seeing double.

57-year-old me, in front of my mother's portrait of me, at age five or so.

Which reminds me of a favorite poem by Walter de la Mare:

As long as I live
I shall always be
My Self—and no other,
Just me.

Like a tree.
Willow, elder,
Aspen, thorn,
Or cypress forlorn.

Like a flower,
For its hour—
Primrose, or pink,
Or a violet—
Sunned by the sun,
And with dewdrops wet.

Always just me.

— Walter de la Mare

This is a wonderful post, Leslie. Beautiful you, and your mother's painting of you as an adorable child, together with one of de la Mare's delightful poems. Three beauties.

Leslie, this is a beautiful post...and I just keep thinking "Love Abounds" a child as an adult.....God has poured out His love for you.....Physically and internally you are beautiful...

So wonderful to see your face sweet friend and the reflection of the child within, looking on behind you. A lovely pairing on a Sun-day. Wishing only good things for you.

Yeah um I thought you were on a blogging break. This post is the first to show itself in my blog feeder for a long time, but I see I've missed some. How did that happen? Any way you were missed and you're beautiful. I can see where Em gets her good looks from.
