the delight of the moment: or why a fuzzy slipper makes the best pillow.

“Perhaps one central reason for loving dogs is that they take us away from this obsession with ourselves. When our thoughts start to go in circles, and we seem unable to break away, wondering what horrible event the future holds for us, the dog opens a window into the delight of the moment.”

Makes me feel better just seeing this. It's definitely and "Ahhh, how sweet!" moment.
I'm seriously considering a visit to the animal shelter to see if I can find a dog that could be safe here (older, not high-strung, won't burst out the front door into the way of a coal truck, will be content with the small back yard and walks, gets along with cats and grandkids--not asking much am I?)
I have a feeling finding one won't be the hard part; convincing Mike will be. ;>)

Dogs are the best. They are just so knowing.

What a beautiful dog! I hope you are well, and I love to see you here -- your beautiful words and quotes and photos.

LOVE that quote, and so true. Our pets do help us very much in taking us out of ourselves and into a different space and frame of mind. The love of an animal can change our life so much. And that's right, they never lie about love. :o) These images of your fur-baby are pure DELIGHT, Leslie! Thank you for sharing them. Charlie will be making an appearance at my place tomorrow. I realized that it had been a while, and some were needing a "Charlie fix" ;o) Happy Day, my friend ((HUGS))
