rain fell in the night

rain fell in the night—

i dreamed i was letting go of you

and woke with death in my gut,

as usual.

how few the pain-free days, now—

i am haunted by them;

they weave in and out of my consciousness

like an endless prayer for mercy,

for more than a snatch

of living.

rain fell, in the night,

and still—

there was morning.

Beautiful photos, Leslie, but such sadness with the never-ending pain. I understand, completely. So far today I haven't attempted very much, physically, so the pain is minimal. I've decided, just for today, to enjoy the lack of self-inflicted back-stabbing.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love, K

i'm almost withholding to say, "yes, that's the pits, always", for two reasons:
firstly, who am i to say it is so? (albeit we seem to suffer from it way too often).
secondly, i once upon a time had this saying (amongst many others, also more positive ones!) on a school folder, and stared at it for a year, perhaps even memorized it (undoubtedly), to pop up here again.
for some reason you have rendered me this autumn memory in a soon-to-break-open-in-full-glory beloved season.
and even though the subject may be disputable, here's joy.
and cheers.
and i'm wishing you all the best.

The raw tenderness of your heart in word and in image dazzles our hearts in all the purity... So sorry for your pain. May the raindrops help you feel alive--for a moment. ((LOVE & HUGS))

Powerful, Leslie. I wish I could write my grief better--I would think it would help some.

I love the way you express yourself
with your artful words
and photos
and pray for light and lift
in the sadness and pain.
