i feel he disapproves of this ditty.

“A wonderful bird is the Pelican.

His beak can hold more than his belly can.
He can hold in his beak
Enough food for a week!
But I'll be darned if I know how the hellican?”

― Dixon Lanier Merritt

Also, pelican babies look like pterodactyls.

Do they look comfortable to you???

Don't diss the babies while mama pelican is watching …

I love your droll observations. And the photos are amazing. Where were they taken?

That pelican certainly has a "Newark glare"... as in "Don't mess with me!"

Jodi, the photos were taken at a local seabird sanctuary. The pelican hatchlings were only a few days old :)

Pelicans are so funny. I don't know why I smile every time I look at one. Happy new year Leslie.

I remember the old ditty, being something of an old dizzy myself. I have never seen pterodactyls, though. The baby pelicans do look a little peculiar, but awww, they're still babies, so they're cute in a funny, unfeathered way.
