may your hearts be lifted up...

Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.

spring will come again...

“What a strange thing!
to be alive
beneath cherry blossoms.”

― Kobayashi IssaPoems

We don't have cherry trees here in Florida, so I'm substituting a photo of red maple blossoms, which I think are almost too lovely to be real. And the poem speaks for itself.
Or for me. Maybe for some of you, too?

night life, and a little break.

Illness is the night side of life, a more onerous citizenship. Everyone who is born holds dual citizenship, in the kingdom of the well and in the kingdom of the sick. Although we all prefer to use the good passport, sooner or later each of us is obliged, at least for a spell, to identify ourselves as citizens of that other place.
― Susan Sontag

It seems like I've been "a citizen of that other place" more than usual, lately, and I'm finding it difficult to do much more than daily tasks (and not much of that.) I've decided to take a blog break until my health (hopefully) allows me to "use the good passport."
